When Empire actor Jussie Smollett first appeared on his Good Morning America segment alleging that he'd been attacked by two white men in MAGA hats, I thought, "Great. More fodder to add to the anti-Trump fire." I felt irritated that white supremacists from the alt-right were making Conservatives as a whole, look bad.
I shoulda known betta. In a twist of striking, fantastical events, akin to Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, we now know that Mr. Smollett appears to have orchestrated the entire scenario, paying two American-Nigerian brothers $3500 to attack him!
“Why would anyone, especially an African-American man, use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? It is simply shameful." - Eddie Johnson, Chicago Police Superintendent
Pundits from the left are now calling Conservatives "gleeful" in these change of events. Am I gleeful? Hell yes.
Politicians like Senator Kamala Harris and Senator Cory Booker didn't reserve judgment; they were quick to start:

When prominent figures correlate "Make America Great Again" to lynchings and hatred, it's gut-wrenching because these are contentious and serious accusations. Had Mr. Smollett's narrative been allowed to play out, imagine the harm that would have been done to our country - all based seemingly on a lie.
So yeah, I'm gleeful that an attack on Conservatives was thwarted and the that hypocrisy of the left that loves identity politics continues to be exposed. And by the way, Mr. Smollett never liked President Trump to begin with:

You are what you speak, Jussie.
