I Really Don't Care, Do You?

I don't . And here's why:

In 1779, British explorer, Capt. James Cook, landed at Kealakekua Bay in Hawaii. The Hawaiians, my ancestors, welcomed Westerners with open arms.

By 1893, the Hawaiian government was overthrown. The Hawaiian people had been decimated and their culture thrown aside. My own family lost tracts of land to the Hamakua Sugar Plantation. My great-grandmother was sent to die alone in Kalaupapa, Molokai after contracting leprosy. We were ashamed to be Hawaiian.

So today, I really don't care. I don't care for political correctness because it's a farce. If politicians really cared Hawaiians wouldn't still be the poorest of the poor. If they were sorry, then they'd: 1. Return our lands. 2. Give us reparations. 3. Respect our people.

Of course, they never will.

So when it comes to sympathy for illegal immigrants, I have none. Why don't our lawmakers focus on the destitute indigenous people at our very doorstep rather than folks who have absolutely no connection nor claim to this land? We have Hawaiians without education, jobs, healthcare, etc., but for some reason, illegal immigrants from Latin America jump the line? Naw-uh, I don't think so.

A self-righteous liberal insinuated to me that my opinion is on the a "wrong" side of history. It's funny because my Hawaiian ancestors embraced Western immigrants and we got f**ked.
