Promises Aren't Meant to be Broken

Amidst liberals' wailing and gnashing of teeth, the American Embassy officially opened in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018. As British singer Harry Styles crooned, "Just stop your crying, it's a sign of the times." There, there, dry your tears, Nancy Pelosi.

President Trump was the only leader with cajones big enough to accomplish such a feat since the Jerusalem Embassy Act was passed by Congress in 1995. Over a 23 year span and three presidents, (Clinton, Bush and Obama), the American commitment to Israel never materialized - until now.

The American Embassy in Jerusalem speaks volumes about how Americans keep promises. On a personal level, it reiterates that we cannot be lukewarm; we must be decisive and yes, we do choose sides. The USA is not the world's government, Americans aren't the global police, and the American president's only responsibility is to the American people. Therefore, if we want our embassy in Jerusalem, then so be it.

And it is. Ho'omaika'i 'ana (congratulations) Israel.
