Are You a People Pleaser?

Are you a people pleaser? And if so, is there really anything wrong with that?

In our personal lives, especially in school, work, and relationships, it's beneficial to be amiable and tolerant (to a degree). I'll admit that I try to be very chill with my family, friends, and colleagues. We are all fighting the same battle and we need to be allies, so to speak.

The situation changes, however, when you're a parent or in a leadership position. You have a responsiblity to correct your children or your employees. It's impossible to please everyone all the time. If you try to, you'll inevitably get taken advantage of.

Case in point, Obama's foreign-policy management style was one of appeasement and 'leading from behind'. As a result, he paid $1.8 billion to North Korea for American hostages.

Conversely, Trump's style is direct (and yes, loudmouthed) but effective. He had three American hostages released for $0. In June, he will be meeting with Kim Jun Un in Singapore.

I know, there's haters galore who say things like, "Not My President," and etc., etc. At some point, there's no use in kicking against the pricks and we must give credit where credit is due. Let's face it, President Trump is an excellent negotiator and his leadership style is making this country great (again).

So look, we can be like Obama in our personal day-to-day interactions with friends and strangers; very pleasing, very nice. But if we're in leadership or one day, running a country that is a standard bearer to the world, we must learn from Trump. He's not perfect, but he is making the impossible happen. And that's undeniable.
