2018: Ushering in a Graceful Exit

It's day #3 of 2018 and according to a New York Times' article at least 25% of resolutions will have been tossed out the window by 1/8/2018. Want to know how many exist by the end of 2018?
Just 10% - surprised?
Well, here's something less surprising: Mariah Carey's cringe-worthy 2017 NYE performance at Time's Square. This time, she did not lip sync; and I kind of wish she had. Home girl needs to know when to hang the bejeweled mic up.
It takes a great deal of humility to know when to make an exit. This is why even Obama's senior campaign adviser, Dave Axelrod, wrote an editorial yesterday praising Senator Orrin Hatch for bowing out after a political career spanning 40 years.
"Every good fighter knows when to hang up the gloves." - Sen. Orrin Hatch
As Kissinger said, "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." Imagine being hooked on a drug like heroin and then one day making the decision to walk away. It takes superhuman power.
Career politicians exist because letting go is hard to do; and finding another career yet harder. In the Hawaii GOP alone, there are folks in their 80s-90s still hell-bent on grabbing as much power as they can. It is a sad and truly pathetic sight to witness.
At some point (sooner rather than later) leaders need to pass the baton to the younger generation. The reason I created a conservative Hawaiian blog is because: 1. No one else is doing it; 2. It's gut-wrenching to watch the state fold like a deck of cards into the hands of nonsense politicians.
There is a dearth identifiable conservative leaders in the islands. The young party leaders that have stepped out have been either quashed or met with lackluster support. So instead, many of us have chosen to forge our own way - it's our future too, after all.
When Senator Hatch's family sat him down for NYE's dinner, they said, "Gramps, it's time to go." And he listened.
Fans must do the same for Mimi and voters must do likewise for our career politicians - and soon because patience isn't one of my resolutions in 2018.
Mimi, move over for Ari. And Ige, it's time for #Tupola.
